As a young zoologist in Mumbai, a small vision was born while I was on one of the forest trails. Experiencing lush green forests to sparse ones. Sighting of birds to none at times. Clear waters to polluted ones. Raising questions and a conflict within.
Talking to teachers, healthy conversations with mentors, colleagues, and acquaintances; I realized there were like-minded people but very few would voice their opinion. Lack of resources, motivation and a discouraging environment would often demotivate the concerned ones to step up for their real goals.
Taking up research on the pollution of Mithi River, was my first step towards standing up for a resource, and from then on there was no looking back. I continued to mentor and guide my students and interested people in relevant fields for nearly a decade and continuing to do so.

In 2018, “JEEVA” was born with the support of my family and love from students. Today, together we are turning yet another golden page and this time it is, “KAALJI.” Although it is our “JEEVAchi KAALJI” /JEEVAda KAALJI (not separate entities – but extending “Care for Life and valuing co-existence”) Kaalji is set to work not just in Mumbai, but in Mangalore as well! It is literally us (the team) understanding and supporting the living entities with care; bringing together human and environment health. Under Kaalji numerous programs will be launched keeping environment and health care as the core. We would be available to all age groups.
